He pointed out that the center presented a program for early detection, which had a great impact in opening the door to people’s conviction that they should initiate on their own initiative to search for cancer and try to detect it.
And he indicated that the center made deep and great efforts to convince people that early detection reduces mortality rates significantly.

The world’s first robotic surgery system
The King Hussein Cancer Center has introduced a robotic surgery system to perform major complex surgeries, the first of its kind in Jordan.
The medical team at the center performed the first surgery to remove a cancerous tumor using the system, and it was successful.
HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, said: “We are proud that Jordan has obtained the latest technology in the field of surgical operations, which will have a significant impact on raising the level of treatment we provide to our patients. Our keenness to keep pace with the latest developments in the world of cancer is part of our The mission of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center is to embrace cancer patients and treat them in a comprehensive manner according to the highest international standards.”
The system is considered one of the most modern surgical systems used in the world of medicine, as it allows surgeons to perform complex surgeries with more control, accuracy and flexibility better than traditional surgery, and is characterized by limited surgical intervention, through the use of very precise tools, which leads to faster recovery after surgery. It relieves pain, and will contribute to reducing patient waiting times for operations.
Robotic surgery will be used in many surgical operations for cases determined by doctors according to certain criteria, such as: the eradication of prostate, kidney, uterine, and colon cancer.
Arab Awareness Campaign
HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, launched the sixth Arab Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign for this year under the slogan “My Vision”; It aims to spread awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

The 2021 campaign came to highlight the importance of the mammogram because it is the most effective examination for early detection of breast cancer. A recent scientific field study conducted by the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program showed that awareness of women is of great importance in early detection, but there are obstacles they face, such as fear of cancer, which negatively affects the demand for early detection examination.
It is worth mentioning that the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program is a national program operated by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center and is concerned with raising the level of services and technologies provided to women to carry out early detection screening for breast cancer, and raising awareness of the importance of early detection.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is affiliated with the World Health Organization, indicated that in 2018, the global burden of cancer rose to 18.1 million new cases, and 9.6 million deaths from the disease.
According to the latest global statistics of cancer cases registered for 2018, about 18 million new cases were recorded annually, and 9.6 million cancer deaths, and most of the cases and deaths were in developing countries.
