Researchers have discovered a “mysterious type” of the emerging corona virus, in wastewater in New York City, USA.

And the “Desert” website said that a team of researchers in New York discovered, in the city’s sewage, a mysterious mutant of corona that had not been discovered before.

In their research paper, the researchers stated that there is no evidence so far that the mysterious mutant “can pose a threat to humans”, noting that it contains “unique mutations”.

They explained that they did not yet know the source of this mutated.

And virologist at Queen’s College, John Dennehy, said it was important to know the source of all the mutations that appear “because this helps a better understanding of the virus itself.”

Mutations are a characteristic of most types of viruses, resulting in the emergence of new mutants or strains of them.

Corona mutants raise doctors’ concern, about their ability to resist the body’s autoimmunity or to address known vaccines.
