This evening, Tuesday, the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives made amendments to Articles 15, 16, and 17 of the draft law; By reducing fines by 50%.

Paragraph (a) of Article 15 of the draft cybercrime law stipulates: “Anyone who intentionally sends, resends, or publishes data or information via the information network, information technology, information system, website, or social media platforms that contain false news, defamation, defamation, or contempt of any person shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than three months and a fine of no less than twenty thousand dinars and no more than forty thousand dinars.”

Paragraph (b) stipulates that “the crimes stipulated in paragraph (a) of this article shall be prosecuted by the Public Prosecution without the need to file a complaint or claim of personal right if they are addressed to one of the authorities in the state, official bodies, public administrations, or to one of its members, or to any public employee during the performance of his job or because of what he did by virtue of it.”

As for Article 16, it states: “Anyone who unlawfully propagandizes, ascribes, or unlawfully ascribes to a person, or contributes to that through the information network, information technology, information system, website, or social media platforms, acts that would assassinate his personality shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of no less than three months, and a fine of no less than twenty-five thousand dinars and no more than fifty thousand dinars.”

And Article 17 states: “Anyone who intentionally uses the information network, information technology, information system, website, or social media platform to publish anything that would stir up strife, strife, undermine national unity, incite hatred, call for or justify violence, or disrespect religions, shall be punished with imprisonment from one to three years and a fine of no less than twenty-five thousand dinars and no more than fifty thousand dinars.”
