Akhbar Al-Jordan electronic newspaper received a statement issued by 593 Jordanian personalities, including Sharia scholars, university professors and media professionals, who presented in their statement, which they called a “statement of advice” to the Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Dr. Muhammad Al-Khalayleh, and the rest of the ministry’s staff.
The signatories of the statement called for “a reconsideration of the issue of separation in mosques, and the issue of closing them after each prayer, especially Maghrib prayer, and the issue of preventing the reading of the Qur’an in them; In light of the developments of the pandemic, especially as we see life relatively returning to normal.”
They called for “a reconsideration of the issue of the unified sermon, as the needs of villages differ from the needs of cities and rural areas,” pointing to the need to rehabilitate the preachers, not to limit them and mold them into one topic.
They stressed the need to “reconsider the issue of dismissed preachers,” noting that the Ministry of Awqaf “calls for respect for opinion and the other opinion, and banning and dismissal does not achieve this noble meaning.”
The statement called for “a reconsideration of the recent measures taken by the ministry towards associations and institutions working in spreading science, advocacy and teaching the Qur’an,” praising “those institutions and associations that left their positive imprints and enabled conscious religiosity and moderation throughout the country for more than a quarter of a century.”
She added: “What is required is to reward these associations and institutions, and to appreciate their workers, not to restrict them and stifle their message under the pretext of a new, emerging law.”
The statement directed to “the optimal investment of endowment funds in a way that serves the mosque’s message, raises the status of the imam, and enhances the role of the preacher, all of which encourages people to endowment and donate, and increases their confidence in the ministry and those in charge of it.”
The statement called on the Ministry of Awqaf to “warn against negative, destructive ideas and misguided groups, which have recently begun to appear under the pretext of personal freedom, such as homosexuality, homosexuality, feminism, atheism, and others,” stressing that warning against these ideas “is one of the ministry’s greatest educational roles.”
He warned against “dying religious discourse with one color and neutralizing other ideas, especially in the jurisprudential and intellectual aspect, because this creates more tension, and leads to a state of war instead of respect.”
The signatories to the statement stated that they reject extremism “but in its two corrupt dimensions, namely: right-wing extremism based on extremism, extremism and infidelity, and left-wing extremism based on dilution, negligence, infidelity and prostitution.”
He pointed out the importance of “setting the priorities of religious discourse in the light of the developments of the times, and empowering working scholars, to consolidate these priorities. Here are the universities and Sharia colleges throwing their talents into the community; There is nothing less than investing these energies and directing them to achieve the value of security through knowledge and faith.”
The signatories to the statement expressed their hope that the Ministry of Awqaf would be “the bright face that protects, preserves and sponsors the message of Islam, not to be – God forbid – one of the reasons for rejecting God’s religion, fighting God’s friends, and disrupting the roles and centers of the Qur’an and the houses of God.”
And they concluded by saying, “Positions and positions do not last. Either our decisions and actions are a good Sunnah in the balance of our actions, or their misfortune haunts us in this world and the hereafter, and we ask God to help you with every good, righteousness and favor, and we do not deny your great effort in many religious files, and we With you and with you, we go for everything that serves our religion, our homeland and our nation, and dialogue is required and obligatory.”
