The Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority, during a campaign carried out in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, removed 22 attacks on water sources in the areas of Wadi Al-Seer, Al-Qatraneh and Faqoua Brigade.

The authority said, in a statement today, Saturday, that one of the wanted assailants was arrested and transferred to the concerned authorities to complete the legal and judicial procedures, and to prepare the documents related to the incident.

She stressed that the campaign supported by the official agencies, led by the Ministry of Interior, to prevent any attack on water sources, is achieving positive and effective results, explaining that the continuous campaigns will affect all aggressors in all regions, and that the rule of law will not exclude a region or a place from this campaign.

The Ministry called on citizens to report any attacks on water sources, firsthand and in complete confidentiality, on the hotline 5600180, affirming its commitment to meeting all citizens’ needs for all uses, in sufficient quantities and of good quality in accordance with the Jordanian standard for drinking water.

She pointed to the great damage and impact of these attacks, in the irregular access of water to citizens in various regions, as the aggressors withdraw from the quotas of citizens and regions, calling on everyone not to buy water from unlicensed sources legally for various purposes, so that the perpetrator does not fall under legal accountability according to Article 30. From the Water Authority Law and its amendments.

And she added, one of the aggressors was caught and arrested in the Wadi Al-Seer area for repeating his assault on a water source that supplies the area by digging below the source, pulling lines from the water source into his house, and installing large pumps with high capacities to fill water tanks in a manner that violates the law.

In the Qatraneh area, the ministry said in its statement that 13 attacks were seized on main lines, 12 of which were by withdrawing lines to supply homes around the clock, while 3 attacks were seized in the Faqoua / Al-Karak district, on main water lines that withdraw water in a violation manner. Where the seizures were prepared in cooperation with the concerned authorities in each incident, and the investigation is underway to arrest the perpetrators and refer them to the judiciary.

In addition, the Ministry affirmed that the campaign to tighten control, which is being implemented by the Water Authority, is proceeding firmly and according to the schedule set according to the regions in the Kingdom, noting that the campaign is achieving its goals and objectives to protect the water rights of citizens.
