Today, Sunday, the Standards and Metrology Institution announced the start of checking the meters of liquefied domestic gas distribution tanks, as periodic and sudden verification and follow-up of complaints received on these tanks will take place.

The Director General of the Corporation, Engineer Abeer Al-Zuhair, said that this step comes as part of the corporation’s relentless pursuit to expand its oversight scope in the metrology and fuel sector in particular, indicating that the inspection teams intensify their tours according to their annual plans, coinciding with the onset of winter and the cold weather that drives an increase in demand for fuel. .

She added that these tours will include all governorates of the Kingdom throughout the week and 24 hours a day, where domestic gas cylinders, fuel meters and pumps at stations and tanks will be checked, in addition to verifying the quality of fuel and its conformity with the technical rules and Jordanian standard specifications, as well as following up on complaints received.

Al-Zuhair indicated that the inspection cadres carried out sudden and periodic visits to 1,759 fuel stations, during which 7,171 pumps and meters, and 1,148 fuel tanks were checked. fuel, adding that the Corporation closed 5 stations, seized 5 violating tanks, and referred the violators to the judiciary to take legal action against them.

In a related context, Al-Zuhair referred to the institution’s efforts to inspect and control gas packers, warehouses, distributors, and gas agencies, as it carried out 287 rounds during which 6,679 domestic gas cylinders were verified, and a gas agency was transferred after its weight manipulation was revealed.
