The Director General of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Nizar Muhaidat, formed a technical committee to approve laser, x-ray, LASIK and other related devices to reduce the chaos of their use in unlicensed beauty centers and clinics.

The committee is chaired by the Director General of Food and Drug, and its membership includes Dr. Amin Maaita, Director of the Health Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate at the Ministry of Health as Vice-Chairman, Dr. Salim Al-Mahrouq, Director of the Medical Supplies and Equipment Directorate, the President of the Doctors’ Syndicate, Dr. Ziyad Al-Zoubi, the President of the Dentists’ Syndicate, Dr. Azem Al-Qadoumi, and the Brigadier General, Dr. Samhar Wishah. From the Royal Medical Services, Dr. Omar Al-Shobaki and Dr. Muhammad Al-Bazour from the private sector, Dr. Ishaq Abu Hussein, Head of the Inspection Department at the Directorate of Medical Devices and Supplies, Dr. Shatha Al-Quraan, Head of the Medical Supplies Registration Department, and Dr. Sondos Salah, Head of the Medical Supplies Import Department.

The committee meets at the invitation of its chairman or his deputy in case of his absence, and the meeting is legal in the presence of at least six members, provided that one of them is the chairman or his deputy, and it takes its decisions unanimously or by the majority of the votes of those present.
