The national taekwondo players, Juliana Al-Sadiq and Zaid Mustafa, won, on Saturday, two gold medals, during their participation in the finals of their weights in the closing round of the 10-star Taekwondo Grand Prix championship, hosted by the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the participation of the best 16 players, classified from each weight.
This is the first time in the history of Jordanian taekwondo that the national team has achieved medals in the final round of the Grand Prix championship, and the second time in the Arab world after the Egyptian player Hidayat Malak achieved a gold medal in the final round of 2015, which was hosted by the Mexican city of Mexico City.
And Juliana El-Sadiq managed to win the under-67 kg final at the expense of the Chinese player Zhang, in two rounds, without charge.
This is the second medal achieved by “Al-Sadiq” in the Grand Prix tournament this year, as she had achieved the silver of the Rome Tour and the fourth medal in her career in this tournament.
While Zaid Mustafa (under 68 kg) won the final against Uzbek Ulugbek Rashitov – the 2020 Tokyo Olympics champion – with two rounds to one.
This is the third medal achieved by Zaid Mustafa in the Grand Prix championships this year, as he had achieved two silver medals in the Manchester and Paris rounds.
With the conclusion of the Grand Prix rounds for this year, Jordan will have won 5 medals, including two golds and 3 silvers.
In total, Jordan has 11 medals in the Grand Prix championships throughout its history, including 4 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes.
