A senior Iranian military official said Thursday that the Revolutionary Guard forces are ready to control or close the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible.”
On Thursday, official Iranian media announced the conclusion of a military exercise titled “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz,” which was carried out by the Naval Forces of the Revolutionary Guard, starting Monday.
The maneuver was carried out under the supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Muhammad Pakpour, coinciding with the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva, and the escalation of military threats from the United States.

According to the Iranian Mehr News Agency, these maneuvers “sent a clear message that Iran is fully prepared to respond firmly to any hostile move.”
The agency reported that the maneuvers focused on “round-the-clock intelligence, rapid response, the use of modern weapons, and intelligent control of the Strait of Hormuz,” demonstrating “Iran’s ability to effectively deter in the most sensitive waterways in the world.”
She added: “With the limited participation of Russia and China in some parts, the maneuvers have gained an international dimension.”
The maneuvers included training in “missile warfare.” High-speed missile launch ships and missiles launched from deep within Iranian territory targeted targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
It also included drone operations, as offensive and reconnaissance drone units carried out electronic warfare operations, and training on defensive and offensive missile systems.
The maneuvers were conducted in light of a sensitive regional situation, coinciding with the United States escalating its military pressure and direct threats, which go hand in hand with the second round of talks in Geneva.
