Al-Safadi from the Security Council: Israeli measures are pushing the West Bank towards explosion

Ammon – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, confirmed on Wednesday, during the monthly briefing session of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, that the continuation of Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank constitutes a serious threat to the peace process, and kills all chances of achieving an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution.

Al-Safadi said that the suffering of the people of Gaza has not ended yet despite the end of the massacre, pointing out that their homes and schools are destroyed, their children are suffering from hunger, and their wounded and sick are without treatment. He added that implementing US President Donald Trump’s plan for reconstruction and stabilization in Gaza is the way to end this suffering.

Al-Safadi warned of ceasefire violations and the continuation of illegal Israeli measures, which included establishing new settlements, seizing Palestinian land, confiscating property, imposing taxes on churches, and threatening the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

He stressed that the daily violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, the continuation of settlement expansion, and the purchase of lands in areas of the Palestinian Authority are all illegal measures that threaten regional stability and push the West Bank towards a possible explosion.

Al-Safadi called on the international community to take immediate and effective action to stop the annexation of the West Bank, protect the two-state solution, ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and launch the reconstruction process, stressing that the continuation of the occupation will only lead to more oppression and injustice for the Palestinians, and the Middle East will not enjoy peace and stability as long as the occupation continues.
