The White House: It is wise for Iran to conclude an agreement with Washington

Amman – The White House confirmed on Wednesday that it would be “wise” for Iran to conclude an agreement with the United States, days after US President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against the Islamic Republic.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters, “It would be very wise for Iran to conclude an agreement with President Trump and his administration.”

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stressed on Wednesday that the United States would prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon “one way or another,” amid discussions between the two parties in an effort to reach an agreement.

Wright said on the sidelines of International Energy Agency meetings that the Iranians are “clear about what they will do with nuclear weapons. This is completely unacceptable.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed his country’s readiness to allow “verification” that it is not seeking to develop a nuclear weapon, in statements published on Tuesday as Tehran held discussions with Washington in Geneva.
