Ammon – The Peace Council formed by US President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold its inaugural meeting in Washington, Thursday, to discuss the reconstruction of Gaza.
Jordan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Walid Obeidat, affirmed earlier that the formation of the Peace Council and the Palestinian National Committee to administer the Gaza Strip, as two temporary transitional bodies established in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2803, must lead to consolidating the permanent ceasefire, preventing displacement and annexation, Israel’s complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, supporting the reconstruction of Gaza, and pushing towards a political horizon that leads to the independence of the Palestinian state along the June 4 lines. 1967, its capital is East Jerusalem.
Trump announced the creation of a “peace council” at the Davos Forum in Switzerland in January.
The administration of US President Donald Trump asked countries that wish to obtain a permanent seat in the new “peace council” that he proposes to contribute at least one billion dollars.
According to the draft Charter of the Peace Council, President Trump assumes the presidency of the Council in his capacity as its first president, and personally decides who will be invited to membership in the Council, and decisions are made by a majority of votes, so that each member state present has one vote, provided that all decisions are subject to the approval of the President.
Many world leaders received an invitation to attend the inaugural meeting of the “Peace Council” formed by Trump.
Two senior American officials said earlier that US President Donald Trump will announce a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza worth billions of dollars, and will detail plans related to the stabilization force approved by the United Nations for the Palestinian Strip during the first official meeting of the Peace Council.
