Ammon – On Tuesday, 80 countries and organizations condemned the unilateral Israeli decisions and actions aimed at expanding Israel’s illegal presence in the West Bank.

She said in a statement read by the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine, Riyad Mansour, on behalf of 80 countries and international organizations, during a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, that these decisions conflict with Israel’s obligations under international law and must be withdrawn immediately, stressing its categorical opposition to any form of annexation.

It renewed its rejection of all measures aimed at changing the demographic composition, character, and legal status of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

He said that such measures constitute a violation of international law, undermine ongoing efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, contradict the comprehensive plan, and threaten the chances of reaching a peace agreement that ends the conflict.

It reaffirmed its commitment, as stated in the New York Declaration, to take concrete measures, in accordance with international law, and in line with relevant United Nations resolutions, and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice on July 19, 2024, to help realize the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and to address the illegal settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, as well as policies and threats of forced displacement and annexation.

She stressed that achieving a just and lasting peace on the basis of relevant United Nations resolutions and the Madrid terms of reference, including the principle of land for peace, the Arab Peace Initiative, ending the Israeli occupation that began in 1967, and implementing the two-state solution, where two democratic states, an independent, sovereign Palestine, and Israel, live side by side in peace and security within safe and recognized borders based on the 1967 lines, including with regard to Jerusalem, remains the only sure path. Ensuring security and stability in the region.
