UN official: The extent of the destruction in Gaza is beyond imagination and the human losses are enormous

Ammon – The Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Alexander De Croo, said, “The scale of destruction in the Gaza Strip is beyond imagination and the human losses are enormous.”

Crowe added, in a post on the X platform, today, Monday, that he spent a “difficult and emotional day in Gaza” during his current visit to the Strip.

He called for allowing UN agencies to expand access to the sector in order to enhance efforts to remove rubble and waste, provide shelter housing and medical equipment, and evacuate patients.

The United Nations Information Office explained that De Croo’s statements came during his visit to the Firas Market area in the center of Gaza City, which has turned into a massive waste dump in light of the disruption of basic services during the war, indicating that removing all the rubble will take 7 years if work continues at the current pace.
