Ammon – On Friday, 7 Palestinian families in the Al-Mita community in the northern Palestinian Jordan Valley began dismantling their homes in preparation for their departure, due to increasing settler attacks.
The head of the Maleh Village Council, Mehdi Daraghmeh, said that seven families began dismantling their homes on Friday morning in preparation for their departure, after the recent escalation of settler attacks against them.
Last night, settlers burned uninhabited tents for families who were forced to leave the same community, for the same reasons.
It is noteworthy that the northern Jordan Valley areas are witnessing daily and escalating attacks by settlers, which include attacking homes, assaulting and intimidating Palestinians, in addition to attacking shepherds, preventing them from entering pastures, and assaulting them and their livestock.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and settlers carried out a total of 1,872 attacks during the month of January. The Israeli army carried out 1,404 attacks, while settlers carried out 468 attacks, mainly concentrated in Hebron Governorate with 415 attacks, followed by Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate with 374 attacks, then Nablus Governorate with 328 attacks, and the Jerusalem Governorate with 201 attacks.
The authority explained that the attacks took multiple forms, including direct physical violence, uprooting trees, burning fields, preventing farmers from reaching their lands, and seizing property, in addition to the demolition of homes and agricultural facilities.
