The third session of the Web Summit in Doha concluded after a distinguished participation during four days in which more than 30,000 participated with 841 media professionals from around the world for comprehensive and complete coverage in terms of television stations and media platforms, the most prominent of which locally was the Msheireb platform and Al Jazeera. As for the beIN Media Group, for the third time in a row, it participated, showcasing the latest digital sports broadcasting technologies supported by artificial intelligence.

On the opening day, after the speech of the Chairman of the Summit, Mr. Paddy Cosgrave, about the launch of the third edition, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, delivered his opening speech, in which he announced Qatar’s ambition to consolidate its position as a global center for innovation, announcing the expansion of the funds program of the Qatar Investment Authority with a value of $2 billion, in addition to the launch of a new residency program for a period of 10 years, which includes tax facilities and unprecedented facilitation in establishing new companies, in order to support entrepreneurs, investors, senior employees and managers. Executives.

The opening surprise was the final session on the main stage with the owner of the UpScrolled platform, which hit number 1 in app stores in many countries as users fled platforms that treated them as products.

The second day was distinguished by a speech by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Foundation: “I believe that today we are more ready than ever before to be pioneers and makers in the field of technology. Her Excellency indicated that the State of Qatar has launched a long-term vision that puts people at the heart of its priorities, adding: “Everything we do is in fact an investment in developing the capabilities of the members of society living on the land of Qatar, whether Qataris or residents.”

Ms. Iman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, also participated in a discussion session on regulatory frameworks and the safe use and protection of data between countries in the age of artificial intelligence.

Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Standing Committee for Hosting the Web Summit, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabr Al Thani, stressed that the Qatar Web Summit has established its position as a leading global event in the field of technology and innovation, having passed the founding stage to the stage of maturity and influence. Memorandums of understanding were signed with the American Chamber of Commerce and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as with “Snapchat” and “Tik Tok” on the sidelines of the Web Summit.

The Qatar Web Summit revealed the final numbers for its third edition held in Doha:
30,274 people from 127 countries participated, along with 1,637 startup companies, 85% of which were international, compared to 1,520 companies last year, reflecting the growing global presence of the event. It also makes it the largest gathering of startups in one conference in the region. 931 investors also attended, an annual increase of 29%, in light of an increasing trend of global capital towards the region, including prominent investment funds such as Amino Capital, Greycroft and Global 500. At the government level, 22 official delegations participated, with Italy, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Switzerland, and the United States recording their first participation in the Qatar Web Summit 2026. 427 speakers participated in the summit to discuss the most prominent current issues, including artificial intelligence, the chip wars, the geopolitics of technology, the transition of quantum technologies to commercial reality, and the economy of content creators. The summit also participated in organizing 180 interactive meetings (Meetups) supported by recommendations based on artificial intelligence, to connect participants according to common interests, extending from expanding the scope of technology in emerging markets. As part of its commitment to promoting diversity, the Web Summit announced that 38% of participating startups were founded by women, compared to 31% in 2024.

The summit also witnessed the participation of a number of major international companies, including “Meta” in its first participation in the State of Qatar, in addition to the first participation of “Google” in the summit, which reflects the expansion of the scope of international partnerships year after year.
