Ammon – Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited the South Governorate on Saturday, stressing that “the right of the people of the South is an indivisible national right,” stressing the government’s commitment to follow up on implementation, monitoring and accountability in reconstruction.
Salam announced from the city of Tire that the challenges are great, but the government “will not back down,” and will work with the Southern Council and the Higher Relief Commission to fully rebuild the affected border villages, “so that they can return better than they were.”
Through the “X” platform, he stressed three main axes: preserving the dignity of the displaced, supporting returnees, and providing relief, reconstruction, and economic recovery, while announcing projects funded by $250 million in loans from the World Bank, 75 million euros from France, and 35 million euros in European grants focusing on agriculture and cooperatives.
Salam stressed that extending state authority includes basic services such as schools, health, water and electricity, expressing his appreciation for the Lebanese army, and promised a second visit soon to follow up on implementation.
