Israel and Iran agree to a ceasefire that will take effect

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday evening that a comprehensive ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and…Iran.

According to Trump, Iran will begin implementing the ceasefire at 04:00 GMT at dawn on Tuesday, with Israel joining it at 10:00 AM at the same time.

This agreement comes amid an unprecedented escalation between the two sides, while neither government has officially confirmed the details of commitment to the timings yet.

The official IRIN TV news channel announced the ceasefire, saying it had been “imposed” on Israel following the “successful” attack on the US base in Qatar.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi published a post on the X platform, in which he said: “Military operations by our powerful armed forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the last minute, at four in the morning.”

He added: “With all citizens, I extend my thanks to our valiant armed forces, which remained ready to defend our dear homeland until the last drop of their blood, and which responded to any enemy attack until the last moment.”

He continued: It was four in the morning in Tehran about an hour ago. This was the deadline he gave to Israel to stop its “aggression” against us. He said in his previous statement: “If Israel does this, we will not continue our response afterward.”
