During the past few days, the movements, meetings, and media appearances of many party figures became active, after the draft constitutional amendments to the electoral and party laws opened the appetite of many to revitalize and restore their role in affiliated parties.

The speech of the throne, during the opening of the regular session of the House of Representatives, carried affirmations and direct support for the role of parties and the importance of reaching an environment incubating partisan life, represented in the formation of relative lists in parliaments to later make their way to the formation of future governments based on partisan programs and vision.

Stakeholders from different political backgrounds and ideologies have started their activities in forming new political parties, while others are studying their options for merging or separating from existing parties and entities.

There are those who see that partisan life has a future in the political role and seek to exploit the precious opportunity, as the outputs of the Royal Committee for the Modernization of the Political System indicate that 30% of Parliament seats will be allocated in the upcoming parliamentary elections (the House of Twenty) and this percentage will rise in successive councils until it reaches It accounts for 65% of the number of parliament seats, which means that the upcoming parliaments are mostly from partisan backgrounds.

There are also those who believe that the parties lived for a long period of time, but their influence in political life remained limited, as many believed that their influence when they were prohibited from public political work was more than their influence in light of the democratic breakthrough after 1989, and that public work revealed the inability of these parties To perform the required and expected role.

Today, the ball is in the parties’ court to prove themselves, their role, and their ideas in many of the issues that the country is going through at all levels and fields, and they must launch a reform workshop and arrange for their internal home to prove to the community and the political system that gave them all this support their desire to participate in political life and their ability to Bear the burdens of the next stage and provide real reform programs and solutions to all the obstacles and problems that the country is going through.

Early party activity and participation

Qashua believes that it is necessary to take advantage of the opportunity and every moment in this atmosphere that supports partisan life, saying, “We have started today to witness an interactive partisan movement that may start its activity during the next municipal elections, which are expected to be held early next year, and here we are talking about the necessity of a partisan role during these elections, The partisan lever works on all sites, whether the municipality, parliament and governments.”

A new stage in building a democratic state

The Secretary-General of the National Constitutional Party, Ahmed Al-Shanaq, considered that the adoption of the proportional list at the national level in the electoral law means that Jordan is going to the concept of governmental and parliamentary partisanship, and therefore we are at the gates of a new stage of building a national democratic state that depends on reaching the parliamentary government in a way that enables the people From the administration of the affairs of the country.

He stressed the importance of rearranging the internal party house according to an organizational theory to set programs and to have party leaders that lead it, who are able to assume responsibility, such as the minister or the prime minister, and this is the basis of the partisan reform process in the country.

Al-Shanaq stressed that this royal project aims to restore the political production of the state by bringing about a qualitative shift in partisan political life and parliamentary life, and for that the base of popular participation has been expanded by empowering youth and women with the new parties law and taking seats in the party list at the national level.

And he indicated that the parties must face many challenges facing the Sisi reform project, the most prominent of which is the popular reluctance to participate in and participate in elections, due to the loss of confidence in parliament and parliamentary life, and this requires creating new faces in parliaments and the upcoming elections.

He stressed that what is required for the success of the political reform project is that it is a state strategy, and this requires a strategic partnership with the government on the ground and activating the work of ministries related to their work with parties and youth, in addition to granting a major role to universities and civil society institutions.

The birth, merging and formation of party alliances

And she called for the necessity of “providing government funding for the parties’ campaigns in the upcoming elections, and encouraging citizens to donate to the parties, as is happening in countries of the world to face the political money that will be active in the coming days.”

Al-Hroub called for “giving the parties the opportunity to speak and announce their political programs in front of society by hosting the partisans on official screens and media channels and giving them enough space to express their ideas and reform programs, in addition to meetings and dialogue in front of university youth to change the language of the demagogic discourse that has prevailed for decades and is hostile to parties.”
