The Compass – The General Syndicate of Owners of Jewelery and Trade Shops has renewed its warning to citizens against being drawn into fake offers on gold prices or buying it electronically through social media pages.

The head of the union, Ribhi Allan, said in a statement today, Sunday, “The union has received many complaints from citizens about cases of “unfairness” and “obscene sales” of gold and jewelry sold in misleading ways and sometimes without invoices.
He added that gold prices are not local and change according to global market data and cannot be subject to daily or seasonal offers and discounts, explaining that the union publishes prices through its bulletin, which it issues throughout the week and circulates to jewelry and jewelry stores throughout the Kingdom.

Allan stressed that citizens should purchase from licensed shops and request an official and stamped invoice when buying gold, including details of the gold’s caliber, weight, price per gram, goldsmith’s wages and the total price.
And he indicated that licensed merchants pay instead of stamp duty fees for specifications and standards, income tax, factory allowance for the importer, and customs fees, which dispels any fake advertisements, stressing that the Jordanian gold industry enjoys high confidence and competes in export aspirations.

Allan called on citizens, in the event of discovering a defect or tampering with the gold coins they purchased, to communicate with the union to take the necessary action, which may reach the point of closing the offending shop, to ensure the protection of the committed merchant and the preservation of his Jordanian identity.
