The basketball team leaves for Türkiye for a camp in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers sports

Amman – The first national men’s basketball team will depart this evening, Thursday, for the Turkish city of Istanbul, to hold an intensive external training camp extending until the 20th of this month, as part of its preparations to participate in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup finals (Qatar 2027).

The team had completed its internal camp in Amman, within the framework of the comprehensive preparation plan implemented by the technical staff led by Canadian Roy Rana, which aims to raise the physical and technical readiness of the players and enhance harmony among the team members before the two expected confrontations against the Syrian team on the 27th and 30th of this month at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City in the first window of the qualifiers.

During the Turkey camp, the “Nashama Falcons” are scheduled to play a series of strong friendly matches against the Saudi and Tunisia national teams, in addition to facing one of the Turkish clubs, to determine the tactical and physical readiness and test the team’s performance before the official match.

The team’s delegation to Turkey includes: technical director Roy Rana, assistant coaches Makoto Mamiya and Nayef Asfour, assistant coach and performance development officer Akaji Okugu, video coordinator Raed Ghosheh, fitness coach Ahmed Samir, physical therapist Moaz Najeeb, and team manager Muhammad Debbas, along with local referee Zaid Al-Qawasmeh.

The players, Muhammad Shaher, Ahmed Hamarsha, Ahmed Hassouna, Amin Abu Hawass, Malek Kanaan, Akef Sheyab, Basil Abu Aboud, Fadi Qarmash, Youssef Abu Wazna, Yazan Al-Taweel, Adham Al-Dajjani, Michel Naffa, Freddy Ibrahim and Abdullah Olajuwon, were chosen to participate in the external camp.

The Jordanian Basketball Federation hopes that this camp will achieve its technical and preparatory goals by providing a professional training environment that contributes to developing the team’s level and enhancing its readiness to compete strongly in the qualifiers, calling on the Jordanian fans to support the “Nashama Falcons” in the two upcoming matches against Syria to support the team’s journey towards achieving positive results.
