Hala News – Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez met in his office at the Senate House, today, Wednesday, with the Spanish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Miguel de Lucas Gonzalez, and discussed with him aspects of bilateral relations between Jordan and Spain, and ways to strengthen and develop them, in addition to the current conditions in the region.

Al-Fayez praised the strength of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and said that they had reached advanced levels of coordination and cooperation on various issues of common interest, pointing out the importance of developing bilateral relations in various economic, investment and parliamentary fields, in addition to enhancing tourism and cultural cooperation.

He also stressed Jordan’s keenness, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to build on the relations of the two countries and open broader horizons for cooperation and establishing joint investments.

The Speaker of the Senate presented the great efforts made by His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring peace and stability to the region, and His Majesty’s calls for the necessity of finding political horizons to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, on the basis of the two-state solution and based on international legitimacy resolutions.

He called on the international community to push the Israeli occupation state to commit to implementing all provisions of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and to enable sufficient humanitarian aid to enter the Strip, appreciating Spain’s positions in support of the efforts of His Majesty the King aimed at achieving peace in the region.

For his part, the Spanish ambassador praised the depth and strength of Spanish-Jordanian relations at all levels, stressing his country’s keenness to advance bilateral relations to advanced levels in various developmental, economic, commercial, parliamentary and cultural fields, in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, and contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.

He pointed out the importance of Jordan’s pivotal role, expressing his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s firm positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to bring peace to the region, and said that peace in the region will only be achieved through a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.
