Ammon – Assistant Speaker of the House of Representatives and member of the National Islamic Party, MP Hala Al-Jarrah, directed a set of parliamentary questions to the government, which included questions about the files of the economy, public administration, and health services under the microscope of direct accountability.
Al-Jarrah wondered about the justifications for the continued rise in indebtedness and the financial deficit despite successive economic reform programmes, inquiring about the absence of any tangible improvement in the citizen’s standard of living or a decrease in unemployment rates.
She called for determining “political responsibility” for the large gap between the promises announced in government plans and the actual results on the ground, stressing the need to reveal the performance indicators that the government adopts to evaluate its policies.
In the public administration file, Al-Jarrah asked a pivotal question about the criteria for selecting and evaluating executive leaders in ministries and government institutions.
Al-Jarrah criticized the continuation of some departments to repeatedly record “poor performance” without the change affecting the heads of those bodies, asking frankly: “Has any official been exempted or held accountable based on the results of the evaluation reports?”
On the service level, Al-Jarrah conveyed the suffering of the people of the town of Al-Mughayir in Irbid Governorate to Parliament, directing her criticism at the Minister of Health. Al-Jarrah revealed the severe shortage and marginalization that the comprehensive health center in Al-Mughair suffers from, including:
Absence of staff: failure to appoint a permanent pharmacist assistant, and a shortage of specialist doctors (pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics) throughout the week.
Lack of equipment: absence of basic equipment such as (ECG, HbA1c test, dental panorama device).
Logistical laxity: The elevator designated for the elderly and people with disabilities was broken down, and the absence of an ambulance to the center despite the urgent need.
Al-Jarrah called on the Ministry to set a specific timetable to address these shortcomings, asking about the financial allocations allocated within the budget to save the health situation in the region.
