Ammon – The House of Representatives approved, by a majority, the draft gas law for the year 2025, as reported by the government, taking into account amendments made by the Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee.

During a legislative session held by representatives on Wednesday, headed by Council Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi, and in the presence of members of the government team, Articles 19 to 32, the number of articles in the draft law, were approved.

In its session held on the sixteenth of February 2026, the House of Representatives approved seven articles of the draft law, while on the eleventh of the same month it approved nine articles, while in a session held on the ninth of February 2026, it approved two articles.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, said that the National Petroleum Company, owned by the state, operates on a concession system, adding, “There is a sharing between it and the Ministry of Finance.

He explained that the current production quantities are still modest, and the company is not able to market them as required, noting that “the company is implementing operations to develop production.”

Al-Kharabsheh added that the government has set a special budget to fully develop the Risha field during the current year and the next two years, stressing that “there are currently no revenues from the company entering the state treasury.”
