The Turkish Ambassador affirms his country’s keenness to enhance coordination and consultation with Jordan regarding various issues

Hala News – The Jordanian-Turkish Brotherhood Committee in the Senate, headed by Dr. Yassin Al-Hassan, met today, Tuesday, with the Turkish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Yagup Geimazoglu, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, in addition to reviewing the most prominent developments on the regional and international arenas.

Al-Ain Al-Hassan spoke about the depth of Jordanian-Turkish relations, which are based on historical ties, common interests and mutual respect, stressing the importance of building on the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s recent visit to Turkey and his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in line with the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to expand the horizons of strategic cooperation and political coordination.

He pointed out the need to strengthen cooperation in the political, economic, parliamentary and educational fields, calling for holding meetings, exchanging visits and legislative expertise, and benefiting from the Turkish experience in developing the health and educational sector.

Al-Hassan stressed the Kingdom’s rejection of any unilateral Israeli measures in the West Bank, including annexation decisions and violations of international law, stressing the necessity of finding a solution to the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, pushing for a just and comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian issue, rejecting measures targeting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and the need to support it to ensure the continuation of its services to Palestinian refugees.

For his part, the Turkish ambassador stressed his country’s keenness to enhance coordination and consultation with Jordan regarding various issues, praising the role played by His Majesty the King in defending Jerusalem and its sanctities, and Turkey’s respect for Jordan’s historic role within the framework of the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

He pointed out that the meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Erdogan was an important milestone that reflected a convergence of views on issues of common concern, especially the convergence of political positions and the shared jealousy between the two countries regarding the Palestinian issue, stressing his country’s readiness to continue building on the results of this meeting by activating channels of dialogue and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation.

In turn, the members of the committee called for strengthening trade cooperation between the two countries, in addition to expanding Turkish investments in Jordan, especially in the sectors of trade, infrastructure, education and medical tourism, stressing the importance of reaching political solutions to various international and regional issues, most notably the Palestinian issue.
