The Turkish ambassador confirms his country’s respect for the Hashemite custodianship over the holy sites of Jerusalem – Hala Akhbar

Hala News – Today, Monday, the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, headed by MP Haitham Al-Zayadin, met with the Turkish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Yaqub Kaymachi, in the Jordanian House of Representatives, where ways to strengthen bilateral relations were discussed, in addition to reviewing the most prominent developments on the regional and international arenas and issues of common interest.
Al-Zayadin stressed the depth of Jordanian-Turkish relations, which are based on historical ties, common interests and mutual respect, noting the importance of building on the outcomes of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s recent visit, and the political messages it carried that reflect Jordan’s status and pivotal role in promoting regional stability.
He stressed the need to develop relations in various political, economic and parliamentary fields, and to enhance cooperation between the Council and its Turkish counterpart through the exchange of visits and legislative expertise, which contributes to unifying positions on priority issues.
In turn, the members of the committee addressed all regional issues, especially developments in the situations in Iran and Syria, stressing the importance of reaching political solutions that preserve the sovereignty, security and stability of states, and the necessity of respecting international law.
They also called for re-evaluating the paths of trade cooperation between the two countries, and examining ways to achieve balance in the trade balance, especially after the cancellation of the free trade agreement, stressing the importance of formulating new frameworks for cooperation that guarantee the protection of the national product and the promotion of common interests, in addition to expanding Turkish investments in Jordan, especially in the sectors of energy, industry, infrastructure, education, and tourism.
For his part, Kaymachi stressed his country’s keenness to enhance coordination and consultation with Jordan regarding various regional issues, praising the role played by His Majesty the King in defending Jerusalem and its holy sites, and stressing Turkey’s respect for Jordan’s historical role within the framework of the Hashemite Trusteeship.
Kaymachi added that the meeting that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan constituted an important milestone in the course of bilateral relations, as it reflected a convergence of views regarding a number of regional issues, most notably the Palestinian issue and the need to intensify international efforts to stop the escalation and protect the holy sites in Jerusalem.
He pointed out that the meeting confirmed the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to advance relations towards broader horizons of strategic cooperation, strengthen economic and investment partnership, and intensify political coordination in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples and contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region. He expressed his country’s readiness to continue building on the results of that high-level meeting by activating channels of political and economic dialogue and encouraging the private sector in the two countries to explore new opportunities for cooperation.
