Hala News – Children of the Jordanian Parliament participate in the third session of the Arab Parliament for Children, which is held in the Emirate of Sharjah under the slogan “Cybersecurity towards content friendly to Arab children,” with the participation of representatives from dozens of Arab countries.
The Director of the Zarqa Culture Directorate, Muhammad Al-Zoubi, said that the children participating in the work of this session, which was held between the 9th and 15th of February, had a significant presence in the activities of the cybersecurity program organized by the General Secretariat of the Arab Children’s Parliament and hosted by the headquarters of the Holy Qur’an Complex in Sharjah, where they had a rich knowledge experience that combined theoretical awareness and practical application, and learned about the foundations of information security and ways to protect personal data, which qualifies them to be ambassadors for digital awareness in their societies.
Al-Zoubi pointed out that during the session, children will discuss practical mechanisms that guarantee a friendly digital environment, protect them from harmful content, and ensure that they interact with disciplined freedom and conscious responsibility, keeping pace with technological acceleration, and instilling in their minds their rights and duties in the virtual world. They also highlight their pivotal role in contributing to the formulation of digital policies that take into account the interests of the Arab child, and contribute to building a safe and sustainable knowledge society, in which childhood is a partner, not a recipient.
He explained that the session’s program includes four integrated topics that address the concept of social engineering, electronic deception methods, the dangers of malware and ways to prevent them, the security of mobile devices, and the protection of digital privacy, presenting a modern knowledge system that enhances the culture of electronic safety among children. These topics were presented by a group of specialists from the Sharjah Digital Department – Sharjah Cybersecurity Centre, within the framework of an integrated vision that invests in building a prudent digital generation.
He added that the program included intensive training on effective communication skills, managing constructive dialogue, working in a team spirit, collective decision-making, preparing parliamentary interventions and drafting recommendations and reports, in addition to developing creative thinking and scientific research, in an integrated training path that enhances confidence and empowerment and establishes future leaders capable of carrying the banner of responsibility.
Al-Zoubi pointed out that the Jordanian participation culminated in the graduation ceremony of a group of children from the Arab Children’s Parliament and members of the Jordanian Parliament after they completed the Parliamentary Diploma Program – Preparing Youth Leadership, which lasted for six months via video communication technology. The graduation ceremony was held at the University of Sharjah, within an effective partnership between the General Secretariat of the Arab Children’s Parliament and the university, with the aim of preparing conscious young leaders capable of participating in decision-making and serving their communities in a democratic and professional spirit.
He stressed that this participation reflects the national approach supporting enhancing the role of children in discussing the fundamental issues that affect their daily lives and future, and instilling in their awareness the culture of dialogue and active participation, pointing out that Jordanian children embodied a distinguished presence with confidence and responsibility, presenting innovative ideas to build a safe digital space that protects them from electronic risks, and promotes the positive and rational use of modern technology.
Al-Zoubi explained that the distinguished Jordanian presence in this comprehensive Arab forum not only reflects a national commitment to supporting joint Arab initiatives to protect childhood, but also confirms that the Jordanian child has become an active figure in the equation of Arab digital awareness, and a present voice on decision-making platforms, contributing to drawing a bright picture of an Arab childhood capable of facing the challenges of the digital age with confidence and ability, and creating a safer and more stable future for future generations.
