Ammon – An international team of researchers warned that accelerating global warming may lead to a permanent heat wave, and confirmed that the Earth’s climate has begun to shift away from the stable conditions that have supported human civilization for thousands of years.

In an article published today, Wednesday, in the scientific journal “One Earth,” researchers explained that several parts of the Earth system may actually be closer to the “destabilization” stage than previously thought.

The research team highlighted the interplay of a group of factors that may transform the planet into a so-called “hot greenhouse,” a stage of permanent heat that poses an extreme danger to humans.

The team, led by William Riebel of Oregon State University, noted that this path would be difficult to stop if Earth entered it.

Despite the bleak warnings, the researchers stressed that there is still a “short window of opportunity” to take countermeasures.
