Astronomers in Britain have suggested that signs of life outside our solar system will appear within two or three years, which means that it is very imminent, after some scientific “standards” have been revised.

According to the newspaper “The Guardian”, British scientists made these estimates after they reconsidered the nature of the planets that could be inhabited.

Scientists said that they focused on planets comparable to Earth in terms of size, mass, temperature and composition of the atmosphere.

And astronomers from the University of Cambridge explained that there may be greater opportunities for life outside the solar system, after recent research revealed new criteria for the possibility of life outside our planet.

The scientists explained that the new criteria say that a planet like “Little Neptune” that is approximately twice the radius of the Earth, while its size is eight times more than the planet we live on, can be inhabited and habitable.

Scientists have identified a new class of potentially habitable planets, which are hot, ocean-covered planets with a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.

These planets are abundant and can be observed more often than Earth-like planets. And “Little Neptune”, which is scientifically known as “K2-18b”, is one of those planets, and there may be many copies of it in the universe.

These planets, which fall into the new category, are water worlds with hydrogen-rich atmospheres, said Niko Madhusudan, a researcher at the University of Cambridge.

The researcher in astronomy explained that focusing on these planets will lead to accelerating efforts to search for habitable planets outside Earth.

He added that within two or three years, there may be a sign of life in one of those planets, saying that the “James Webb Telescope”, which is expected to be launched next November, will help to conduct further research.
