“The museum’s old surveillance camera system did not detect the thieves in time” to prevent them from carrying out their historic robbery on Sunday, Louvre Museum director Laurence de Carre said on Wednesday, after reopening the museum to visitors. While she acknowledged the existence of security gaps inside the museum, calling for the opening of a security center inside the museum itself in order to enhance surveillance.
