Public Archeology obtains a training license and technical education

The Department of Public Antiquities obtained a license from the Authority for the Development and Development of Vocational and Technical Skills to provide training and vocational education services in the field of antiquities professions, based on the provisions of the Authority for the Development and Development of Vocational and Technical Skills Law No. (19) of 2019 and the applicable regulations and instructions and the fulfillment of licensing requirements.
According to a statement by the department today, Tuesday, the authority decided to approve the license of the (Regional Center for Maintenance and Restoration in Jerash) of the Department of Antiquities to provide training and vocational education services in the field of antiquities professions.
The regional center, which will be inaugurated in the coming days after the completion of all the necessary equipment for its work, is considered a center specialized in restoration work, training work, and preservation of artifacts and monuments, and represents an important step towards Jordan’s participation in the field of training experts and professionals specialized in restoration activities.
The center aims to strengthen local capabilities in order to raise the efficiency of rehabilitation and restoration work for sites and artifacts in Jordan and the region, raise tourism rates, create job opportunities, and raise community awareness regarding antiquities and their preservation.
The work of the Jerash Regional Center is based on three main axes: maintenance, restoration, training and research.
The department said that the establishment of the Regional Center for Maintenance and Restoration in Jerash came to preserve the heritage and archaeological heritage, as the Kingdom is considered one of the countries rich in cultural and archaeological heritage. Hundreds of thousands of artifacts were discovered during archaeological excavations, which confirms the importance of finding a specialized place equipped with qualified staff and advanced tools to carry out maintenance and restoration of artifacts.
The establishment of the Jerash Regional Center came with an agreement between the Italian government and the Jordanian government through the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in 2017.
