The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation summoned the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Arab Emirates and informed him of the country’s strong protest and denunciation of the interference of his country’s ambassador to the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Jordan’s internal affairs.

The UAE Ministry affirmed, in a statement, the UAE’s solidarity with the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its strong protest against the irresponsible and out of diplomatic norms made by the Dutch ambassador on October 19, 2022, which is a blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

It is noteworthy that the Dutch ambassador to Jordan had previously met with the Minister of State for Media Affairs, the official spokesman for the government, Faisal Shboul, and then criticized the reality of freedoms in the country.

The Dutch ambassador’s tweet sparked a state of controversy, due to what was described as interference in Jordan’s internal affairs, but the UAE’s summoning of the Dutch ambassador to protest against the ambassador’s statements in Jordan opened questions about why the UAE took this step instead of Jordan
