Al-Hassan bin Talal:
“Sykes-Picot divided us, and now we disperse the crumbs.”
“Sykes-Picot is more of an example than a memory.” Al-Hassan bin Talal
What His Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal says did not come out of nowhere. Israel’s ambition is religious and political. It claims that the Israeli settlements are a fulfillment of security requirements. Israel forgets that the presence of settlements is what threatens “security.” What legal grounds do you claim to justify the existence of the settlements? .
“The lands of the West Bank and Gaza are not permissible lands, even if sovereignty over them is still suspended. (Al-Hassan bin Talal, “Intellectual Works – Volume One, p. 260)”
Israel has forgotten that the Israeli settlement in the occupied territories (the West Bank and East Jerusalem) since 1967 aims to change the demographic and geographic reality to impose oppressive Israeli control, and it is illegal under international law, against which this country, which claims to be a democratic state, has rebelled! .
In his book, Prince Hassan deplores Israel’s previous use of the term “administered areas”, which means the West Bank and Gaza. “This is a statement that has no basis in international law itself.” (Ibid., p. 262).
When international laws are trampled, read peace upon justice. International justice has been insulted, pamper it! .
I wonder: Where is Security Council Resolution No. 242 issued in November 1967? Why did you ignore it? .
Israel depends on unprecedented American support and European blessing as well.
Why was this proposal made by then US Secretary of State Rogers ignored? This is a resolution approved by the General Assembly in 1970? Why does this decision not see the light? .
Prince Hassan was right when he said, “The Security Council bears some of the blame for this failure to implement this resolution.” With skill and knowledge, he adds, “Implementing Resolution 242 means a small amount of land in exchange for a small amount of peace.” (Ibid., p. 267).
Where is the peaceful solution to conflicts approved by the Security Council and the General Assembly? Why did the international community turn its back on him? Where is the Palestinian right to self-determination that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state? .
Unfortunately, Prince Hassan’s demand for the United States to fulfill these legitimate demands fell on deaf ears, and was merely a tongue twister.
In this time, what was taken by force will not be restored without force. Our parents are watching the Palestinian tragedy. What they have in store are just lofty statements!
Israel persists and continues to impose its will on America, especially in light of US President Trump, who granted it a “Courte Blanche” to do whatever it wants, trampling international laws in international and Arab silence as well, unfortunately.
Al-Hassan bin Talal addresses Israel, saying: “If it wants peace, it must give up the land, and under no circumstances will it be able to win both.” With sound logic, it is time for Israel to reason.” He added, “Israel may have the ability to achieve military victory, but it is no less aware of the inability of this military victory to provide a solution to the conflict.” (Ibid., p. 273). It fuels and exacerbates the conflict.
In wise words, Al-Hassan bin Talal addresses the United States: “If the United States of America supported a consensus from the international community to achieve a peaceful solution, peace could be achieved in the Middle East.”
America supports Israel, justifying its aggression. As for the Arabs, they are deep in sleep, and their only weapon is high-pitched statements, and in secret, complicity that follows complicity, which is humiliation and submission.
Al-Hassan bin Talal criticizes what he called “the stagnation of political action,” calling on the countries of the world to create a real atmosphere for peace negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli parties.
It seems that this demand has become unattainable in light of the cloudy weather.
Touching on the future of the city of Jerusalem, he says: “Israel found the United Nations partition plan of 1948 acceptable in terms of its proposal to establish a Jewish state and unacceptable in terms of its proposal of a separate entity for the city of Jerusalem and the establishment of an Arab state.”
Israel forgets that the partition project was approved by the Mandate State and the United Nations. The lands of Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip were not permissible land at any time.
Unfortunately, US President Trump today violated all international laws and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moved his embassy there. Belittlement followed by belittlement.
Trump twists the arm of facts without caring. The Arab regimes are under his armpits, except for a few of them, most of which are flowing from their nostrils, and they have no prestige in his view. As for the peoples, they are powerless. If they disobey or protest, the stick is ready. Poor our peoples, running after a livelihood and often running away from their livelihood.
It is as if the law of the jungle is ruling our world today. The law of the jungle tramples human dignity and seizes the wealth of peoples.
In his intellectual works, Al-Hassan bin Talal lists the international laws that stipulate the necessity of respecting human rights, and this is what Israel disavowed with American support.
Here I wonder, where is the respect for former US President Wilson’s call in 1920 for the necessity of recognizing the right of peoples to self-determination? Why did what he said not come true in Palestine? Or did he not mean what he said?
The right to self-determination is the cornerstone of Palestinian rights, so why is it ignored? What this Trump’s America calls the pursuit of peace in the Middle East has failed, is just an act of tickling sentiments.
The world today is governed by the tyranny of an American president who wants to control a sovereign country, Iran. I do not think it will succeed, despite its air and sea fleets.
It remains for me to say to every oppressor: “denying the truth even though knowing it is condemned.
To the oppressor I say: “If the tyrant is shocked under his chains, he will know the pains of life and understand.”
