When an employee is asked to read the guarantee amendments with the eye of “sustainability,” he reads them with a different eye: with the eye of age, salary, and his plan for life. The numbers here are not actuarial equations, but rather his years of working life.

Gradually raising the retirement age to 65 for males and 60 for females simply means five additional working years for those who were planning to retire at sixty. An additional 1,825 days in a changing labor market, and raising the required contributions for the old-age pension from 180 to 240 contributions means another five years of deductions before eligibility.

As for early retirement, it now requires 360 contributions, regardless of age. That is, 30 years of actual subscription.
The message is clear: early retirement is no longer a flexible option, but rather an exception that is difficult to achieve by increasing additional years of work. Even in dangerous professions, conditions have become precise and strict, limiting benefit to a narrow scope.

It is true that the minimum salary for some salaries has been raised to 200 dinars, and about 20,000 citizens will benefit. But in return, hundreds of thousands will be required to work additional years and pay longer contributions before reaching retirement.

Economically, raising the age can be justified by increasing life expectancy; But psychologically, an employee who begins his work at the age of 22 and continues until the age of 65 spends 43 years in an unstable labor market. In his mind, security is no longer “nearby social security,” but rather a distant station and a long and frustrating wait.

Financial reform is understandable, but from the employee’s perspective, the message from the government is harsh and the bottom line is: work more, pay more, and wait more.
