Ammon – The National Islamic Party announced that it has officially changed its name to the Reform Party, in line with the outcomes of the political modernization system and the Jordanian political parties law, and to enhance its comprehensive national role.
The party confirmed in a statement on Wednesday evening that this decision comes with the aim of opening up to all sectors and institutions, consolidating the principle of responsible citizenship, and strengthening party work based on comprehensive national programs that serve the interests of all Jordanians, and reflects its commitment to the democratic approach, respect for pluralism, and the highest national interest.

In line with the outcomes of the political modernization system, especially the law regulating party work, and in line with the requirements of developing political life in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and in an effort to enhance the party’s programmatic role and enable it to possess effective tools capable of translating its programs into practical reality, and in view of the party’s full commitment to the provisions and spirit of the Jordanian Constitution and to what is stated in the Political Parties Law, especially Article (5/b), which prohibits the establishment of parties on religious, ideological, or sectarian foundations, it has become necessary for the party to To the option of changing its name in a way that ensures its openness to the various sectors and institutions in the Jordanian state, enhances its comprehensive national presence, and prevents it from being confined within a classification framework that may limit its effectiveness or be interpreted in a different way compared to other political parties.
Accordingly, after discussion sessions and negotiations that lasted for weeks between the party’s leaders and cadres, the opinion was settled on replacing the party’s name with the name of the Islah Party instead of the “National Islamic Party” in a way that is consistent with the requirements of the stage and serves the higher national interest.
The party affirms that this approach comes to consolidate the principle of responsible citizenship, strengthen national identity, and stem from its belief that effective party work must be based on comprehensive national programs that respond to the interests of all Jordanians without discrimination or exclusion. This change is accompanied by a real trend towards developing the programmatic and organizational structure of the party and reformulating its political, economic and social priorities in a way that ensures the implementability of these programs and their direct connection to the needs, concerns and requirements of Jordanian society.
This decision came after in-depth discussions within the organizational frameworks of the party and with the active participation of its leadership bodies and party bases, reflecting an internal democratic approach based on dialogue and consensus. The party believes that this step constitutes an essential introduction to a new phase of institutional political work based on strategic planning, anticipating future challenges, and effective contribution to the formulation of public policies.
Accordingly, the party affirms its commitment to responsible political action, respecting pluralism, and consolidating the democratic approach, putting the supreme national interest above any consideration, and continuing steadfastly in performing its role as an active partner in the process of political reform in the Kingdom.
