Solidarity adds that the families headed by women witnessed a significant increase, reaching about 392 thousand families, or 17.5% of the total Jordanian families in 2020. While the number of families headed by women increased between 1994-2009 by 12.8% in (2009), compared to 9.6% of the total number of families in the year (1994).

In terms of the distribution of families headed by women over the governorates of the Kingdom, it is clear that Zarqa Governorate ranked first in terms of the number of families, with a rate of 20.1%, and the lowest in Aqaba governorate with a rate of 12.6%. %, Ma’an 16.1%, Madaba 16.1%, Balqa 15.8%, Irbid 15.2%, Ajloun 14.5%, Jerash 14.3% and Mafraq 13.5%.

The average expenditure of families headed by women is 10,016 dinars compared to 12,596 dinars for those headed by men, while the average current income of families headed by women is 9,534 dinars compared to 11,519 dinars for families headed by men.

There are other differences in the expenditure aspects of families headed by women, as well as differences in the sources of income. Despite the difference in the average annual spending between households headed by women and those headed by males, which amounted to 2580 dinars, women spent more on their families than men in the field of health care.

The analytical study of gender issues 2016, issued by the Department of Statistics, showed that the percentage of families who own their homes in Jordan reached 60.6%. It is noteworthy that the percentage of families headed by women who owned their homes decreased to 62.9%, while 75% of them owned their homes, according to the 2004 census. This decrease is attributed to the increase in the number of non-Jordanians in the Kingdom (7% in 2004 to 30% in 2015).
