In a scene that embodies the cohesion between the leadership and the people, the House of Representatives presented its response to the Supreme Throne Speech delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah II at the opening of the regular session of the National Assembly, stressing that His Majesty’s words formed a clear road map towards a more stable and prosperous Jordanian future.
The response affirmed the Council’s commitment to its pledge of loyalty to the homeland and its leadership, and renewed the oath that Jordan would remain their greatest goal, the people their field of service, and the King the leader of their journey. The representatives stressed that the Throne Speech was not just a protocol occasion, but rather a call for hard work and institutional integration between the authorities, and a reminder that true achievement can only be achieved through sincere partnership and comprehensive national responsibility.
On the practical side, the response indicated that the Council is aware of the magnitude of the challenges surrounding Jordan in light of a turbulent and changing region, and that the Kingdom has been able, under its wise leadership, to remain an oasis of security and stability, thanks to its balanced positions and established political constants, and that the next stage requires everyone, government and parliament, to improve legislative and oversight performance, and to follow up on the implementation of plans and programs that directly affect the lives of citizens.
The response included a commitment to work on basic issues referred to by His Majesty the King in his speech, primarily education, health, transportation, water and food security, attracting investments and creating job opportunities for youth.
The Council also appreciated the King’s efforts in defending the Palestinian cause and the continued emphasis on the right of the Palestinian people to achieve their freedom and establish their independent state on their national soil.
The House of Representatives concluded its response by expressing its confidence that cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities, under the royal directives, will be the best way to consolidate the reform approach, achieve national ambition, and preserve Jordan’s status and its Arab and regional role.
