Writer Safaa Al-Hattab could have summarized the narrative of the “Sicilian Fund” issued by the Ministry of Culture within the Family Library 2025 project within five minutes and two pages at most.

But with her insightful vision as a writer, she found that the story needed suspense, especially since it was a scientific, cognitive narrative directed at boys or young people, although it was also suitable for adults.

The events take place in 48 pages, dealing with the story of the Arab geographer Muhammad Al-Idrisi, the first person to draw a map of the world and the first geographer on the planet Earth… who was forced to transport his new invention “the globe” in a “box” on a ship from the island of Sicily after King William of Sicily, the hater of Arabs and Muslims, took power there.

Al-Idrisi preferred to dedicate his historical and valuable achievement to the Prince of Valencia, or the Spanish Valencia, Muhammad bin Jubair, who was interested and knowledgeable in geography.

The writer, Safaa Al-Hattab, “invents” an interesting story that makes the reader not rush to finish the story because of the lessons and titles it contains: political, historical, and scientific.

She adds from her imagination a dramatic “occurrence” in which the “mystery of the box” is discovered by the men of the King of Sicily, and he resorts to the trick of “kidnapping” Ibn Jubair’s wife and bargaining with her to return the “box” and the original invention in exchange for the wife.

The writer Al-Hattab draws a scenario of “negotiations” between the two parties, with the cooperation and sympathy of the Commander of the King’s Guard with Princess Zeinab. She is hidden in a box full of precious books and returned to Valencia in exchange for a copy or model of the required “globe” to avoid an asymmetrical war.

An attractive, cognitive narrative written by a writer who is busy with the “Lost Civilization Series” and published a novel

Antiquities Thieves (Ancient Egypt Civilization) and

Nefertari Al-Raqim (Nabataean/Petra civilization) and

The desired Nabataean civilization (Nabataean civilization/Petra astronomical city) and the novel (Maryam’s Diaries) are intangible heritage.
