The Ministry of Youth consultations launch to activate the national plan for UN Resolution 2250 Jordan news

Amman – The Ministry of Youth, in cooperation with the Jordanian National Commission for Women’s Affairs, began its national consultations to implement the Jordanian national plan to activate Security Council Resolution No. (2250) on youth, peace and security, through a joint discussion session held at the Ministry’s headquarters, in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Sami Al-Adwan, the Secretary-General of the National Commission for Women’s Affairs, Eng. Maha Ali, the country representative of the United Nations Women’s Fund Nicholas Burniat, the Director of the United Nations Population Fund, Hamir Abdel-Mughni, and a number of representatives of civil society institutions.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Adwan stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and integration between the Ministry, national and international institutions and civil society, within the framework of implementing UN Resolution No. (2250), which reflects the Jordanian vision aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their participation in achieving peace, security and development.
He pointed out that the decision came as a result of the efforts of His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, during his presidency of the Security Council session in 2015 on “The Role of Youth in Confronting Extremism and Promoting Peace,” indicating that Jordan has taken advanced steps in this field, by establishing the International Alliance for Youth, Peace and Security, restructuring the Jordanian National Coalition, launching the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security, and launching its executive plan during the Kingdom’s hosting of the “Amman, Capital of Arab Youth” events. 2025.”
Dr. Al-Adwan explained that the Jordanian National Plan (2025-2027) constitutes a comprehensive national framework for unifying institutional efforts and enabling young people to contribute to development paths and decision-making, through executive programs and continuous monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
He also stressed the importance of integrating roles and exchanging experiences between the Ministry of Youth and the National Committee for Women’s Affairs, to implement the plan’s axes, develop institutional frameworks, and ensure the sustainability of national efforts.
For her part, Engineer Maha Ali stressed that the session is an important step to coordinate joint efforts between the two national plans to activate Security Council Resolutions (1325) on women, peace and security, and (2250) on youth, peace and security, especially with regard to empowering young women and promoting societal patterns that reject violence.
She stressed the importance of the Jordanian national plan to activate Security Council Resolution No. (1325) on women, peace and security, in its first versions (2018-2021) and the second (2022-2025), as an embodiment of the royal visions and the commitment of the Jordanian state to empowering women and enhancing their role in various fields, taking into account the themes of the UN resolution that focus on the effective participation of women in peace processes.
Ali pointed out that the Jordanian plan was praised in the annual report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as a good practice that contributed to enhancing regional security and stability, and constituted a model to be emulated at the regional and international levels.
It demonstrated the National Committee’s keenness to provide an effective role for civil society institutions in supporting the implementation of the national plan, by reviewing the governance structure and forming the Civil Society Institutions Forum, which includes 61 organizations.
Ali concluded by expressing her thanks to UN Women for its continued technical support, and to the Joint Support Fund, which contributes to financing a number of the plan’s activities.
The session included presentations that reviewed the themes of the Jordanian national plan to implement Security Council Resolution No. (2250) on youth, peace and security, and the Jordanian national plan to activate Security Council Resolution No. (1325) on women, peace and security, in addition to follow-up and evaluation mechanisms, and the most prominent achievements and lessons learned, while the UN Women team gave a presentation on technical and financial support for the implementation of the first and second Jordanian national plan (1325).
For his part, the country representative of UN Women, Nicholas Burniat, stressed that the Jordanian economic modernization vision embodies a firm belief that sustainable development is based on the participation of youth and women in shaping the future of the nation, noting that it represents an opportunity to transform global commitments on peace and security into tangible national results.
Burniyat explained that this dialogue embodies a national commitment to move forward in implementing the agendas of women, peace and security and youth, peace and security, stressing that UN Women will continue to support Jordanian efforts to consolidate equality and enhance comprehensive governance.
The session concluded by emphasizing the importance of the national partnership between official institutions and civil society, to activate the role of youth and women in building peace and maintaining human security, in line with the vision of the Hashemite leadership in consolidating a culture of peace and sustainable development.
