Amman Today – The Council of Ministers decided in its session held today, Tuesday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, to approve the payment of arrears accumulated over five years, worth 42 million dinars, for 11 printing presses that were charged with printing textbooks and curricula, for the Ministry of Education, of which 30 million dinars had been approved by the Council last Sunday as part of a package for paying arrears amounting to 125 million dinars.

The decision comes within the framework of the government’s policy to pay arrears and debts that have accumulated for years to a number of parties, as the total amounts paid by the government during the past weeks amounted to approximately more than 287 million dinars.

The Council of Ministers had decided in its session last Sunday to pay the arrears accumulated over five years by ministries and governmental and official institutions in favor of electricity distribution companies, amounting to a total of approximately 60 million dinars, in addition to paying the arrears incurred by the Yarmouk Water Company in the amount of 10 million dinars and the Water Authority 25 million dinars, in favor of electricity distribution companies.

The Council of Ministers also decided last week to pay dues and arrears to public universities worth more than 100 million dinars, and was also preceded by paying the debt of the founding King Abdullah University Hospital, worth 40 million dinars, and the University of Jordan Hospital, worth 10 million dinars.

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers decided to appoint Dammam Muhammad Abdul Qadir Khuraisat as Director-General of the Postal Savings Fund, after obtaining the highest marks in the competition that was conducted in accordance with the system for appointing leadership positions.
