Jordan Trade signs two cooperation agreements with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

Sarrah News – The Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed two cooperation agreements with both the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its counterpart in the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the meetings of the forty-first session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on February 16, 2026, in a step that reflects the Chamber’s intention to strengthen its network of international relations and open new markets to the Jordanian private sector.
Within the framework of cooperation with the Uzbek side, the Chamber signed a cooperation agreement stipulating the formation of the Joint Jordanian-Uzbek Business Council, which will begin work on forming its body and organizational structures during the coming period, with the aim of institutionalizing relations between the business communities in the two countries, and providing a permanent platform for direct communication between companies.
The agreement was signed on the Jordanian side by the President of the Jordan Al-Ain Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Muhammad Al-Haj Tawfiq, and on the Uzbek side by the Vice President of the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Karanov, in the presence of a number of businessmen and representatives of the private sector.
According to a statement by the Chamber today, Tuesday, the agreement stipulates the formation of a joint executive committee, which is the highest administrative body in the Council, responsible for drawing up strategic directions, approving the annual work plan, and supervising its implementation, in addition to establishing a joint general secretariat to manage daily work, organize meetings and trade missions, and follow up on the implementation of recommendations. The Council also holds an annual meeting alternating between Amman and Tashkent, with the establishment of specialized working groups in strategic sectors including pharmaceutical industries, agriculture and food industries, sustainable energy, information and communications technology, construction and infrastructure, and logistics services, in addition to finance, banking, tourism and culture.
In the same context, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed a cooperation agreement with its counterpart in the Republic of Azerbaijan, signed on the Jordanian side by Al-Ain Khalil Muhammad Al-Haj Tawfiq, and on the Azerbaijani side by the President of the National Union of Entrepreneurs (Employers) in the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, with the aim of strengthening economic and commercial relations and opening new horizons for partnership between the business communities of the two countries.
The Jordanian-Azerbaijani agreement aims to provide a regular institutional framework that brings together businessmen within a permanent forum for dialogue and consultation, and to explore opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, technology transfer, services and manufacturing, in addition to exchanging information and economic data, and identifying obstacles that may face the expansion of cooperation and working to address them in coordination with the relevant authorities. It also includes organizing periodic meetings alternating between Amman and Baku, encouraging participation in exhibitions and economic events, exchanging trade delegations, and organizing bilateral business meetings (B2B), with a focus on supporting small and medium-sized companies and enhancing their integration into regional and international value chains.
The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Al-Ain Khalil Muhammad Al-Haj Tawfiq, confirmed that these agreements represent a practical translation of the Chamber’s policy of expanding its international presence and thoughtful openness to promising markets in Central Asia and the Caucasus region, pointing out that Uzbekistan represents a developing market with growing industrial and agricultural potential, while cooperation with Azerbaijan constitutes an important gateway to strengthening trade and investment ties in the region.
He added that the Chamber is continuing to transform these agreements into clear executive programs and specialized sectoral meetings, in a way that enhances the volume of trade exchange, raises the level of joint investments, and contributes to building sustainable partnerships based on economic integration and achieving common interests, in line with the priorities of the economic modernization vision and enhances the role of the private sector in supporting growth and investment.
The signing of the agreement was attended by members of the Board of Directors, Bahjat Hamdan, Khaled Krishan, Mamdouh Al-Qarala, the representative of the communications and information technology sector, Engineer Haitham Rawajba, and the representative of the food sector, Engineer Jamal Amr.
