Amman Today – The Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed two cooperation agreements with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the National Union of Entrepreneurs (Employers) in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the chamber’s statement, today, Tuesday, the signing of the two agreements came on the sidelines of the meetings of the forty-first session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development in Saudi Arabia, in a step that reflects the chamber’s intention to strengthen its network of international relations and open new markets to the private sector.
Within the framework of cooperation with the Uzbek side, the Chamber signed a cooperation agreement stipulating the formation of the Joint Jordanian-Uzbek Business Council, which will begin work on forming its body and organizational structures during the coming period, with the aim of institutionalizing relations between the business communities in the two countries and providing a permanent platform for direct communication between companies.
The agreement was signed by the President of the Jordan Al-Ain Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, and the Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Karanov, in the presence of a number of businessmen and representatives of the private sector.
The agreement stipulates the formation of a joint executive committee, which is the highest administrative body in the Council, responsible for drawing up strategic directions, approving the annual work plan and supervising its implementation, in addition to establishing a joint general secretariat to manage daily work, organize meetings and trade missions, and follow up on the implementation of recommendations.
According to the agreement, the Council holds an annual meeting alternating between Oman and Tashkent, with the establishment of specialized working groups in strategic sectors that include pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, food industries, sustainable energy, information and communications technology, construction and infrastructure, and logistics services, in addition to finance, banking, tourism, and culture.
In the same context, Hajj Tawfiq and President of the National Union of Entrepreneurs (Employers) in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mamad Musaev, signed the other agreement with the aim of strengthening economic and trade relations and opening new horizons for partnership between the business communities of the two countries.
The agreement aims to provide a regular institutional framework that brings together businessmen within a permanent forum for dialogue and consultation, and to explore opportunities for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, technology transfer, services and manufacturing.
It also aims to exchange economic information and data, identify obstacles that may face the expansion of cooperation, and work to address them in coordination with the concerned authorities.
It also includes organizing periodic meetings alternating between Amman and Baku, encouraging participation in exhibitions and economic events, exchanging trade delegations, and organizing bilateral business meetings with a focus on supporting small and medium-sized companies and enhancing their integration into regional and international value chains.
Hajj Tawfiq stressed that the agreements represent a practical translation of the Chamber’s policy of expanding its international presence and thoughtful openness to promising markets in Central Asia and the Caucasus region.
He pointed out that Uzbekistan represents a developing market with growing industrial and agricultural potential, while cooperation with Azerbaijan constitutes an important gateway to strengthening trade and investment ties in the region.
He explained that Jordanian trade will work to transform the agreements into clear executive programs and specialized sectoral meetings, in a way that enhances the volume of trade exchange, raises the level of joint investments, and contributes to building sustainable partnerships based on economic integration in line with the vision of economic modernization and enhances the role of the private sector in supporting growth and investment.
The signing of the agreements was attended by members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Bahjat Hamdan, Khaled Krishan, and Mamdouh Al-Qarala, the representative of the communications and information technology sector, Engineer Haitham Rawajba, and the representative of the food sector, Engineer Jamal Amr.
