The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Jordan, Stella Kluth, confirmed that her country will remain a reliable partner in supporting Jordan despite the global decline in development budgets, announcing her country’s commitment to providing about 400 million euros over the next four years, which will be directed to the areas of security, stability, hosting refugees, and the water sector, in addition to enhancing trade and investment.

Kluth stressed the depth of the bilateral relations between her country and Jordan, noting that the partnership between the two countries is based on trust, common values, and strong ties between the two peoples, and represents a model of sustainable cooperation at various levels.

Kluth said, during a reception held at her residence in Amman on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, that the process of relations since the 1950s has witnessed a gradual development that has taken it to advanced levels of coordination and joint work, starting with the exchange of diplomatic messages in 1951, through strengthening ties between the two royal families in the 1970s and 1980s, and the opening of the two embassies in the 1990s, leading to close cooperation today on issues of common priority.

During the reception attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Dhaif Allah Al-Fayez, and a group of the embassy’s partners, contacts, and a number of members of the Dutch community in the Kingdom, the Ambassador stressed the importance of the partnership between the two kingdoms, which is embodied at various levels between the two royal families, the two governments, the business sectors, and most importantly between the two peoples, noting that relations between people constitute the basic foundation of this partnership.

She also expressed her appreciation for the Jordanian partners who contributed to implementing joint programs, building business relationships, and providing expertise that strengthened bilateral cooperation, in addition to the role of the Dutch community in Jordan as a vital bridge between the two countries.

She indicated that the two countries are working together to enhance peace and security in the region, appreciating the role played by Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in addition to cooperation in finding sustainable solutions to water challenges, supporting Syrian refugees and host communities, enhancing border management capabilities, empowering the private sector, and developing trade and investment relations between the two sides.

Official diplomatic relations between the two countries go back to December 16, 1951, when letters were exchanged between the envoys of the two countries, which officially established bilateral relations, which developed over the following decades into a multidimensional partnership characterized by close cooperation and coordination across a wide range of sectors.

The ceremony witnessed the announcement of a special logo for the 75th anniversary, which came with a simple and modern typographic design that combines the color orange, a symbol of the Netherlands, and the color red, a symbol of Jordan, indicative of the depth and continuity of bilateral relations.

Kluth indicated that the embassy will continue to celebrate this occasion until December 16, 2026 by organizing various events and through its channels on social media, with a focus on highlighting stories, people and initiatives that embody the Dutch-Jordanian partnership, stressing that celebrating this anniversary represents a renewal of the commitment to joint work and continuing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The Ambassador stressed that the “Shiraka” program, in which more than 500 Jordanian government employees have participated to date, will continue to support our alumni network and enhance sustainable communication between them, adding that every opportunity we have will be keen to bring the Jordanian and Dutch peoples closer together.
