Amman Today – The Board of Directors of the Jordanian Free Zone Investors Authority held its first meeting following the elections, which witnessed wide participation exceeding 85 percent.

During the meeting, it was unanimously agreed to elect Muhammad Al-Bustanji as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Amer Al-Jayousi as Vice-Chairman, Jihad Abu Nasser as Secretary, Asaad Abdeen as Treasurer, Walid Abu Eid as Deputy Secretary, and Haitham Qutaishat as Deputy Treasurer.

The elections resulted in the Al-Wefaq Bloc winning six seats, which included MPs Muhammad Al-Bustanji, Amer Al-Jayousi, Jihad Abu Nasser, Walid Abu Eid, Mahmoud Al-Jitan, and Salama Al-Jabali, while the Future Bloc won two seats, namely Sharaf Al-Din Al-Rifai and Haitham Qutaishat, in addition to the victory of Asaad Abdeen and Hisham Al-Hadid for the industrial seat by acclamation, ensuring the representation of the industrial sector within the new council alongside the commercial sector.

Al-Bustanji confirmed in a statement after the meeting that the next stage will be based on working in a team spirit and strengthening the institutional role of the Authority in a way that serves the interests of investors in the free zones, stressing that the Council will immediately begin following up on priority files, foremost of which is developing the investment environment and strengthening the partnership with the relevant government agencies.

He added that the unity of ranks and consensus witnessed at the first meeting reflects everyone’s awareness of the extent of responsibility, stressing that the Authority will remain a gathering house for all investors, and that the Council will work to establish transparency, openness and listen to various opinions, which will reflect positively on the Authority’s performance and its role in supporting the national economy.
