The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority launches a training program specialized in IPv6

Sarrah News – The activities of the specialized training program on the Internet Version 6 Protocol (IPv6) and its applications in telecommunications network infrastructures were launched in Amman today, hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with RIPE NCC and the International Mobile Operators Association (GSMA), in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union and the United Nations Development Programme, and with the participation of an elite group of experts and specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom.
The Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Commissioners, A. Lara Al-Khatib said in her speech during the opening that organizing this training program comes within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding concluded between the Commission and the RIPE NCC organization, and aims to develop the Internet infrastructure in line with Arab trends to strengthen the digital infrastructure, expand regional and international cooperation in the communications sector and Internet technologies, and accelerate the adoption of technical and organizational readiness for the transition to the sixth version protocol.
Al-Khatib pointed out that the adoption of the sixth version of the Internet Protocol is not just a technical upgrade, but rather represents a strategic investment in the sustainability and security of networks, and enhancing their flexibility and ability to keep pace with the needs of the digital economy and digital society, stressing that this training program constitutes a vital step towards supporting Internet operators and providers in improving their operational and technical capabilities and developing policies and regulatory frameworks in accordance with international best practices.
In turn, the Regional Director for Public Policy and Government Affairs at RIPE NCC, Dr. Shafiq Shea, “This regional training translates our partnerships into practical results on the ground by building technical capabilities, accelerating the shift towards more flexible and secure networks, and supporting the modernization of the Internet infrastructure to serve the digital economy and society.”
Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is the latest generation of Internet protocols, as it provides a wide digital address space, allowing a huge number of unique addresses to meet the needs of the rapid growth of telecommunications networks and the Internet. The adoption of this protocol is considered a strategic step to ensure the sustainability of networks and enhance their security and flexibility, in addition to its support for modern technologies such as the Internet of Things and cloud services, which contributes to keeping pace with the requirements of the digital economy and digital transformation at the national and regional levels.
