Ammon – The National Aid Fund has begun distributing prepaid purchasing cards to (60) thousand of the poorest families who are beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund in various regions of the Kingdom, as part of the high royal initiatives that are implemented annually on the occasions of the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Support is provided to beneficiary families in the form of prepaid shopping cards worth (100) dinars per card, enabling the targeted families to purchase their basic needs from military and civilian consumer institutions, at a total cost of (6) million dinars.
The Fund sent short text messages (SMS) to the head of the beneficiary family, including the mechanism for receiving the card, in order to facilitate procedures and ensure that the support reaches its beneficiaries with ease.
The Fund confirmed that, in cooperation with the civilian and military consumer institutions, all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate families’ benefit from the card, and to ensure its use by the beneficiary himself or a member of his first-degree family, in order to ensure that the support reaches those who deserve it.
The families benefiting from the royal initiative, which was launched in 2004, are selected according to specific principles and criteria that guarantee fairness and transparency, and based on a computerized system and the database approved by the Fund.
The initiative has witnessed a development in its implementation mechanisms since 2019, by shifting from providing in-kind packages to shopping cards, which enhances the flexibility of choice and preserves the dignity of the beneficiary families.
