Amman Today – The dollar recorded its highest level in two weeks today, Friday, and is on track to achieve its strongest weekly performance since November, while the yen rose ahead of the national elections scheduled for Sunday.

The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against six other currencies, reached 97.961, its highest level since December 23.

The index is heading to rise by 1 percent this week, which is its largest rise since mid-November.

The euro also reached $1.1784 after the European Central Bank kept interest rates unchanged yesterday, Thursday, as expected.

The British pound witnessed sharp losses and settled at $1.3520 after falling by about one percent in the previous session.
