Amman – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, was briefed today, Thursday, on the progress of exploration and prospecting work for phosphate ores in the Risha area, carried out in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the ministry and Al-Tasnim Omani Projects Company.

During the tour, Al-Kharabsha listened to a technical explanation provided by the specialized team about the drilling sites and the mechanisms for collecting rock samples and preparing them for laboratory shipment. He also learned about the stages of field work in the project.

At the conclusion of the visit, a field meeting was held to discuss the initial results and work plans for the next phase, and the importance of accelerating the pace of completion in order to achieve the project’s strategic objectives was emphasized.

This visit comes within the framework of following up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry and the Omani Company for Phosphate Ore Exploration in the Risha area, as part of the national trend to transform natural resources into value-added local industries, in line with the National Mining Strategy previously launched by the Ministry.

The memorandum of understanding covers an estimated area of ​​about 300 square kilometers in the Risha region, and gives the company the right to carry out geological and technical studies and evaluate the economic feasibility of developing the crude, including the possibility of establishing manufacturing industries based on it within the Kingdom.

The Minister was accompanied on the visit by the Director of the Geology and Mining Directorate at the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Hisham Al-Zayoud, along with a team of the Ministry’s technical and field cadres, and the Omani Tasnim Company team working on the project.
