Jordanian-American discussions to increase benefits from the free trade agreement

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yaroub Al-Qudah, and the Ambassador of the United States of America to Jordan, Jim Holtsneider, discussed a number of economic cooperation files between the two countries and mechanisms for enhancing them.
According to a statement by the ministry, the discussions focused on the importance of increasing benefit from the free trade agreement signed between the two countries, which has been in effect for about 25 years, and has contributed to raising Jordanian exports to the American market and enhancing the Kingdom’s investment attractiveness in many sectors.
The volume of Jordanian exports to the American market last year amounted to $3.12 billion, an increase of 13 percent over the previous year, while the Kingdom’s imports of American goods amounted to $1.88 billion for the same year.
The two parties discussed the necessity of continuous follow-up in order to enhance areas of economic cooperation between the two countries, especially commercial opportunities and working to increase the benefit of marketing areas for Jordanian goods in the American market.
The judges referred to the government’s work programs to develop the economic situation, especially the economic modernization vision, and its most prominent goals within the framework of the necessary efforts to achieve development in Jordan.
He expressed the Jordanian government’s appreciation for the assistance provided by the United States to Jordan, which had a clear impact in supporting priority development plans and projects, and alleviating the burdens resulting from the region’s unrest and global geopolitical conditions, and before that the “Corona” pandemic and its repercussions.
