Insurance and social protection expert Musa Al-Subaihi expressed his refusal to seize any party on the entire Social Security retirement salary, regardless of the reasons for the seizure or debt.

Al-Subaihi said in a post on the Facebook platform, “One of the insurance pensioners has a salary of (400) dinars, and he had sponsored one of the borrowers who borrowed from a financing institution to establish a project that would generate income for him, but his project failed, and the authority withheld the sponsor’s retirement salary in full (withholding on the four hundred dinars), which is a retirement salary from Social Security, and his family was left without any living income, so who accepts this, how was this done, and what is the logic in that?”

And between “The Social Security Law is completely clear on this matter, as Article (93) of the law clearly and explicitly stated that the seizure of the retirement pension, the disability pension, or any amounts due to the insured or to the beneficiaries is limited to two debts only, which are the alimony debt, and the debt of the Social Security Institution. With no more than (25%) of the salary for either debt or both together. The law gave priority to seizing the alimony debt over the institution’s debt.”

He added, “Given the many complaints of retirees about seizure of their salaries from lenders, financiers, banks, and others, I ask the Social Security Corporation to protect the salaries of its retirees, and I know for sure that the seizure of other types of debts other than the two debts that I referred to, and in excess of the permissible percentage, is not done through the Security Corporation or in coordination with it. Nevertheless, I ask the Corporation to communicate with the Jordanian Judicial Council and with the Association of Jordanian Banks to clarify the matter for them and reach understanding with them.” On the importance of the retirement salary for the insurance pensioner and his family, and why the law limited the seizure of his salary to the debt of alimony and the institution’s debt only, and not exceeding a quarter of the salary in order to preserve the livelihood of the salary owner and his family.
